Flavor Profile
Story: Ginger is one of the most versatile flavorings available; it’s the ultimate go-between for sweet and savory food, going from defining a ginger snap cookie to refreshing the palate next to sushi in an instant. Despite the common name Ginger Root, Ginger is actually a rhizome: an underground stem of the Zingiber plant first cultivated in Asia, and now grown in Africa and the Caribbean, most notably Jamaica. Our Ginger is dried and available in both whole and powdered form.
Flavors: Distinct, pungent and slightly citric in aroma, Ginger’s sweet and peppery flavor is instantly recognizable.
Use: Dried Ginger is most useful as a flavoring in baked goods, soups, curries and even Jamaican Jerk recipes--use it in its powdered form or zest it whole.
